A Look Back at Our Opening Night – 2025 Season

Retour sur notre soirée d’inauguration – Saison 2025

May 10, 2025

Dear members,

Thank you all for your wonderful presence at our 2025 season opening night! Over 150 members gathered in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Our president, Jean-Luc Ledoux, opened the meeting by outlining the evening’s program and emphasizing the importance of interaction and bilingualism throughout the event. He then introduced the members of the board of directors, along with the special advisor:

Board of Directors:

  1. Jean Elsliger, Vice-President and Secretary
  2. Johanne Paradis, Treasurer
  3. Céline Miron, Director
  4. Special Advisor : Jean-Martin Verreault

We had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Town of Brome Lake, essential partners in our development. Pierre Laplante, municipal councilor, announced an investment of $500,000 over two years for the construction of three new courts, with work scheduled to begin in September 2025, as well as the resurfacing of existing courts in 2026. He was accompanied by...

  1. Lucy Gagnon, Municipal Councillor
  2. Nicholas Brien, Director of Recreation Services
  3. Thomas-Daniel Bergeron, Infrastructure Coordinator

We then shared the results of our member survey:

  1. Average satisfaction score: 7.9/10
  2. 85% wish to play with others of similar skill level
  3. Morning and late afternoon time slots are the most popular

These results directly influenced the board’s decisions.

A summary of the survey can viewed online by clicking here.

Our committees for the season:

  1. Sports Committee: Jacques Boisvert, Franck Métivier, Jackie Samson, Céline Miron, JoAnn Kay, Bev and Helen Souci, Jean-Luc Ledoux, Jean Elsliger
  2. Social Committee: Johanne Paradis, Cathy Anderson, Lisanne Roberson, Lucy Davis, Marie Lessard, and Vivien Grenier. (Sincere thanks to all!)

Season schedule:

  1. The new daily schedule was presented, along with upcoming activities.
  2. You can view this schedule by clicking here.
  3. For events requiring registration, we will now use the SPOND platform. An invitation email from the Spond app was recently sent to all members. The app must first be installed on a mobile device or an account can be created on a computer.
  4. Regarding Spond, the self-assessed levels submitted by members during the March 2025 registration period are the basis for participation in level-specific Spond activities. This approach was established to ensure a structured and manageable framework for a club of our size. We will reevaluate the situation at the end of the season.

We also announced the launch of the Pickleball Academy, a structured and fee-based activity for those looking to improve their game.

Thanks to an initiative by Franck Métivier, David Côté from Voyages Qualité Côté was invited to present a pickleball travel package for next fall in Mexico. In short: departure on November 26, to Cancun, starting at $2,299.

Jean-Luc made sure to thank:

  1. The Town of Lac-Brome and its representatives
  2. Jean-Martin Verreault for his support
  3. All the volunteers (you’re amazing!)
  4. Clubs from neighbouring towns: Sutton, Waterloo, Cowansville, Bromont.

Johanne then held a draw for door prizes. Members can purchase T-shirts for $15, with part of the cost subsidized by the club ($6 per shirt). If you're interested, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

To conclude…

A Q&A session gave members the chance to speak directly with the activity coordinators.

A few important points:

  1. The city coordinator will follow up on when the sunshades will be installed.
  2. Following a request from some members, Friday Follies has been added to the activity schedule
  3. The rules will be clearly posted near the courts at Parc des Lions.

Once again, thank you for your great energy, and have a wonderful 2025 season!

Warm regards,
